THEATRE DIRECTING

Lizi Patch is a highly experienced and resourceful director, particularly known for championing work with young people and her directing practice is rooted in curiosity, play and collaboration. Lizi shows patience, insight and genuine care for everyone she works with.

As Artistic Director of Young People’s Theatre at Leeds Heritage Theatres (since it's inception in 2012), she champions young people's work - creating safe, collaborative spaces where performers can take risks and grow. Whether working with emerging artists, staging bold new writing or directing a full-scale musical with a cast of 60 and a full, professional production team, Lizi brings clarity, purpose and a deep belief in theatre’s power to inspire, challenge and connect.

Lizi has directed 11 full-scale, professionally produced musicals for Leeds Grand Youth Theatre, with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory set to be the 12th in July 2025. She has also written, devised and directed a variety of contemporary productions for all age groups within the youth theatre.

For Leeds Actors in Training, Lizi has directed 8 new plays, including a series of commissions developed in collaboration with MA Writing for Contemporary Theatre students at the University of Leeds.

Lizi is currently working on The Maladies by Carmen Nasr (Seven Arts, June 2024).
